Word Picture

Throughout my years of high school, music has kept me motivated. I treasure the amplifiers, speakers, and headphones my manager gave me when I was sixteen. The most significant item he gave me is my mixer. Without my mixer, I wouldn’t have the creativity I have today. I currently produce music and DJ on the side.

Not only did he bless me with an opportunity to make money legally, but also he helped me discover my passion for music. It’s really difficult for teenagers in my community to do something productive. To keep me out of trouble, I practice mixing music on my mixer. This is a way for me to express myself creativity.

Majority of the teenagers in my neighborhood dreams and aspirations are to either become an athlete, or a rapper. I figure since everybody wants to do that, why not think outside the box. My dreams and aspiration is to become an entertainment lawyer while producing music on the side. Metaphorically, my goals are similar to the cross-fader on my mixer because I’m juggling two different careers. I figure if I can properly synchronize two songs at once, then I can balance being a lawyer and producer.

Mixing music with my mixer gave me an ability no one could take away from me. It enhanced my listening skills. Adjusting my bass, meds, and highs on my mixer helped me become an attentive listener for music and school. So if students in the classroom are loud and obnoxious during a professor’s lecture, I still can fully understand what the teacher is saying.

My mixer has influenced me to make the world a better place. If people enjoy music as much as I do, then maybe I can inspire people through music. Music is a way I can express myself and show the world how talented I am. It’s difficult synchronizing two songs at once; this proves how unique I am with a mixer. I strongly believe if my manager didn’t give me this mixer then, I wouldn’t be the same person I am today. In fact, I probably would have been a typical African American in neighborhood who just wants to live off their mother. Music enforces me to be independent.
